Former Candidate U.S. Congress

Energy Independence

America has been an importer of energy my entire adult lifetime. It never made sense to me as a young person growing up. The international peril we’ve created for ourselves by our dependency on foreign energy supplies is frightening. We have the ability to produce our own energy and achieve independence. It will take time. Drilling for new supplies domestically and with our neighbors is just one part of the answer.

Natural gas supplies in North America are abundant and should be harvested. Science and technology are continuing to improve the areas of renewable clean energy along with more efficient transportation. However, this research must be based on science and driven by economics rather than politics and magic thinking. We should continue to develop solar, wind and hydroelectric sources where practicable “without” the politics and waste.
