Economies typically cycle due to a variety of factors which include  social and governmental. During one of the largest economic downturns in American history, brought on largely by discrete corporate colossus and government regulation, the Obama Administration has continued to push a socialist agenda fueled by excessive tax increases, government regulation and borrowed spending. This has driven the national debt to over $17,500,000,000 and growing (That’s $17.5 Trillion Dollars), an unprecedented debt toll in American history and qualifies in my book as an obscenity.

Five trillion dollars ($5,000,000,000) or 30% of the entire National debt has been created in less than 6 years by one man’s Presidency and the tax and spend politicians. The leftists, led by President Obama have 422 named tax increases they’ve hoisted on the backs of the American people during his tenure in office.

We have mortgaged our grand children’s future. Debt, excessive taxation and over regulation are major head winds to jobs and economic growth. Government has grossly mismanaged our money.

Jim Cooper, the current Tennessee District 5 Congressman has voted numerous times in ways that exacerbate the problem. Here are a few of his actual votes in Congress:

S540 – To Suspend the debt limit (Effectively Disable it) till March of 2015. The House version PASSED on Feb 11, 2014. Jim Cooper voted YES to remove the debt limit and borrow more money for government to spend! This bill basically gives the President a BLANK CHECK until that Date. The act “renders the debt limit inoperative,” which matters because when Congress fails to limit the debt it effectively abdicates its Constitutional power to control borrowing. In this case they handed more power to the President.

Jim Cooper also failed to vote on the “RSC Back to Basics Budget” - Vote# H86-2013. He skipped his chance to be fiscally responsible as he often claims to be.

"People hire people who solve problems..." ~ Christopher Carter

When businesses are unburdened to innovate and incentivized to grow they hire workers. When demand for workers rises wages rise with the demand.

Government is an illegitimate job creator because it does not survive solely on the profits from the creation of quality products and services derived through customer satisfaction. Government instead raises taxes on the people if it needs more revenue rather than improve the product or service to increase sales as does the private sector. This irresponsible tax and spend behavior along with excessive entitlements has grown out of control and our national debt is the result. Solyndra and other failed government loan/giveaways are a shining example of how corrupt and inept Government is at managing business when profitability is secondary to political agendas and idealism.

If I am given the opportunity to serve the people of Tennessee District 5 in the U.S. Congress I will join the fight to cut wasteful spending and taxes as well as excessive government regulation while improving necessary in-place services for Americans. This will fuel innovation, entrepreneurship and job growth especially among small businesses.
